Blue light treatments featuring photo energy technology can remove bacteria that cause acne and return a smooth, pimple-free complexion.

chemical peels

A Complete Guide to Chemical Peels

You’ve probably heard people boasting about how chemical peels changed their skin and made it more radiant and glowy. But what does it really do?

A chemical peel is a treatment that helps fight signs of aging and some other skin concerns, including acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, etc.

There are different types of chemical peels, and they offer different benefits. In this complete guide to chemical peels, you’ll find everything you need to know.

Types of Chemical Peels

There are three types of chemical peels out there. These are deep, medium, and light chemical peels. Let’s start with the light chemical peels:

  1. Light Chemical Peel

There are plenty of benefits of chemical peels. A light chemical peel is the mildest form of this treatment. In a way, it is a form of exfoliation.

In this chemical peel, your dermatologist will remove the outermost layer of your skin to get rid of an uneven skin tone, wrinkles, dry skin, and acne.

This treatment can be taken regularly after every five weeks or less.

  1. Medium Chemical Peel

Medium chemical peels use a stronger chemical than light chemical peels. Besides removing the outermost layer, they also remove the layer underneath it.

Medium chemical peels are great for getting rid of acne, wrinkles, and uneven skin tones. But they don’t offer instant results. If you want picture-perfect skin, you’ll have to get multiple treatments from time to time.

  1. Deep Chemical Peel

A deep chemical peel uses very strong chemicals that might cause pain or discomfort. Your doctor will give you local anesthesia to numb the pain.

In this procedure, three layers of your skin are removed. Deep chemical peels are great for getting rid of deep scars and wrinkles. They can even get rid of precancerous skin patches.

Since they remove three layers of your skin, they last for a long time. Generally, you’re good for ten years after a deep chemical peel.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels offer a bunch of skin benefits that offer long-lasting results. Here are some of the major advantages of getting a chemical peel:

Acne and Acne Scars

Acne is a major skin concern for the majority of people. Even when acne is gone, it can leave behind marks that are no less than a nightmare.

While oral and topical medications are the more common approach for treating acne and acne scars, a chemical peel is also an easy solution for treating both.

A chemical peel improves the absorption of products into the skin and helps reduce inflammation. Moreover, it also kills bacteria and decreases oil production, which automatically reduces acne.

For removing acne scars, a chemical peel gets rid of excess collagen, which is the major cause of scars in the first place. For stubborn acne marks, a medium chemical peel is recommended. In contrast, a light chemical peel can help get rid of acne.

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Fine lines and wrinkles are signs of aging, and we all want to look ever-green. Well, chemical peels help fight these signs.

When the top layers of your skin are removed, it removes the fine lines and wrinkles you had. And when the new skin grows back, it gets a boost of collagen and elastin, which makes your skin look younger, stronger, and smoother.

But it’s important to understand that chemical peels can’t get rid of sagging skin. For that, you’ll have to get a completely different treatment.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin condition that causes redness and swelling on the face. Generally, it causes inflammation which can trigger acne-like breakouts. Using a chemical peel in moderate or mild rosacea can help relieve these symptoms. But chemical peels aren’t recommended for severe conditions.

Post-Treatment Care

It’s important to care for your skin after getting a chemical peel. Your skin becomes more sensitive after the treatment, and it generally takes 7 to 14 days for your skin to recover fully. During this period, you need to avoid using warm or hot water.

Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturized at all times. When you go out, be sure to wear sunscreen of 30 SPF or more.

Once your skin heals completely, you can get back to your normal routine.

Final Thoughts

Chemical peels have numerous benefits to offer. Based on your goal, you can get light, medium, or deep chemical peels. Generally, they are used to get rid of acne, acne scars, and wrinkles.

The Things You Want to Consider Before Getting Soft Tissue Fillers in West Palm Beach, FL

The South Florida lifestyle is always about looking and feeling good by maintaining a youthful appearance. The reality is that we all grow older, and age can adversely impact our appearance and how we look.

Soft tissues fillers in West Palm Beach, FL, are one of the most popular and least invasive procedures. More middle age and older adults are turning to this as a way of enhancing their appearance to embrace the South Florida lifestyle.

However, before getting the procedure done, you want to consider several things to ensure everything goes smoothly. We look at those factors you want to think about prior to having soft fillers performed.

The Importance of Planning

You can avoid complications with this procedure by planning ahead to account for different contingencies. You should be realistic in your approach and realize that any positive changes will not happen overnight. Managing expectations is one of the best ways to ensure you are ready for the procedure.

We recommend talking with your healthcare professional and discussing how long these transformations will take. You will know what to expect and can more appropriately prepare for the soft tissue fillers in West Palm Beach, FL.

Beaute Therapies is a non-invasive medical spa that can help you to feel like a new person. We are experienced, knowledgeable, and will give you the youthful appearance you want.

Expectations

Before going through the procedure, you want to discuss with your doctor the goals and expectations. You want to talk about the procedure and your goals after everything is finished.

You should use a mirror to point out any areas where you feel changes need to occur. The healthcare professional should take pre and post procedures photos to capture the changes and document everything.

Managing your expectations is one of the most critical things when getting soft tissue fillers. You should realize that changes will occur, but not at the speed you are expecting. Your body needs time to adjust and recover after everything is finished.

We recommend having an open and honest discussion about the process and how long everything takes.

Beaute Therapies is the place to give you that youthful and natural look you desire. We offer numerous procedures, including laser hair removal, Botox, skin rejuvenating, and body contouring, just to name a few.

Skin Anatomy

The thickness of your skin will vary among the different parts of your face. These disparities affect the injection depths and circulation into the areas of your face.

For example, the glabellar region of the face requires minimal collateral circulation, and the injections should be lighter in these areas. If things are overdone, there is a possibility you could face vascular issues from having excessive volume.

The best approach is to discuss your skin’s anatomy before the procedure to identify areas of thickness. Focusing on these areas decreases the chances you will see complications, and it makes your recovery smoother.

Beaute Therapies is the place for getting facial fillers in West Palm Beach, FL. We have over 25 years of experience in helping people like you to have a firm and more youthful look.

Screening

Before having any procedure you must be screened for different medical issues and allergic reactions. A few of the most notable include clotting, seizures, and vagal episodes to determine the best course of action.

During the process, you want to be as open and honest about anything that may become an issue. The more information you provide, the better we can help you get through everything with the least amount of complications.

Sometimes, things such as worries about discomfort can be an issue and should be discussed. In situations like this, we can do certain things that reduce your stress and pain levels. We encourage you to be open and transparent when talking about your concerns before the procedure. The more we know, the better help we provide to give you a smoother experience before and after the procedure.

Beaute Therapies is the place for gaining that youthful appearance without going through extensive surgeries. We have five-star client reviews for our compassion, professionalism, experience, and caring. You are in good hands with our trained staff that understands and addresses all of your issues.

How Do Soft Tissue Fillers Work?

We’re constantly trying to reverse the effect that time has on the skin. There’s an entire cosmetic industry dedicated to making you seem younger than you are. However, this obsession with looking young has gone even further in the past two decades with the advent and normalization of cosmetic surgery. Concerning this, many beauty spas have also started offering minimally invasive options like dermal fillers or soft-tissue fillers so that people can look and feel younger.

Define Dermal Fillers

A dermal or soft-tissue filler is a solution which a skilled person would inject into your wrinkles, lines, and creases so that your skin is smoother. This treatment also helps alleviate any facial contours you may have so you have a more lifted face and features. Some people also use fillers to create volume in their lips to compete with the ever-increasing beauty standards.

What Options Do You Have?

If you go into a beauty spa for a treatment, you’ll have a variety of filler options that you can choose from. These filler options target different areas of the face.  However, before any of these fillers touch your face, you will firstly have a long detailed discussion with the resident doctor. You will then inform them about all the fillers you wish to get injected. Once that’s done, they’ll choose the best mode of action to proceed.

Lip Enhancement

Lip enhancement procedures include a synthetic version of Hyaluronic acid which is a naturally-occurring substance in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid keeps the skin looking fresh and young, which is why many people have decided to add it to their skin-care routine and, it ensures a youthful look.

Removing Lines and Wrinkles

The process of removing lines and wrinkles is more arduous than the simple procedure of lip enhancement.  Since the area of lines and wrinkles is relatively spread out, you may also find that you have to go to the clinic a significant amount of times to receive the best result possible.

Facial Fillers

These facial fillers are mostly just used for the lines, wrinkles, and folds of the face. It helps in restoring the fullness of the face, so it appears more youthful. If you want to make your face more round and healthy, these facial fillers work wonders.

Soft Tissue Fillers: How do They Work

We’ve talked about how soft tissue fillers are just hyaluronic acid injected into many different parts of the skin. Other soft-tissue fillers include materials like Radiesse and Sculptra, which help rejuvenate the skin’s fullness and volume by causing the skin’s collagen to grow.

Initiation

The first step in a soft tissue filler procedure is the preparation of your skin. You have an initial conversation with your dermatologist to discuss your medical history and any past treatments you may have undertaken. If you’re on any medication or you’ve taken any medication in the past, your doctor will also discuss these matters with you. Your doctor will then examine your skin, and you can communicate to them what goal you wish to achieve with the fillers. If there are any problem areas you wish to target, you can explain this too and, they will make their recommendation to you. Additionally, they will also take pictures for medical records. They will also explain any outcomes for soft tissue filler and inform you about the risk of the procedures if there are any. You can clarify your fears and potential hesitations with them too.

Process

Since this hyaluronic acid is injectable, you can receive the injections in your doctor’s office. The doctors will mark some points so that they know where to place the needle. The doctor sanitizes your face to rid it of any bacteria.

They will then inject fillers into your face. Some of these may be anesthetic and will numb out any pain or discomfort you may feel. Most soft tissue fillers don’t result in a harsh chemical reaction, so you must not be apprehensive about it. If you have significant scarring or if the skin has sunken into your face, then you may need more sessions than others.

Generally, no skin testing is required for soft tissue fillers in Essex, MA.

Recovery

After you’re done with the injections, you may face some swelling, redness, or bruising where your skin was injected. However, you don’t need to take much care. Instead, you can return to normal activity almost immediately.

Soft tissue fillers are temporary, and if you don’t like them, you can always have them dissolved. Each filler can have a different length of activity. You can talk to your doctor about how long you wish for your fillers to stay, and they will help your choose the best option. Soft tissue fillers in no way stop the aging process, but they do make you look youthful.

Dermal Fillers or Botox? Which Treatment is Right for You?

These days, there are more wrinkle treatment options available than before. Botox and dermal fillers (soft tissue fillers) remain two popular options for long-lasting results. While both are used to eliminate wrinkles, these two options are not exactly alike. For example, Botox is designed to freeze muscles, ultimately reducing the fine lines and wrinkles created by facial expressions. Whereas fillers add fullness, eliminating wrinkles where the skin is thinning most. Both treatments are effective and are offered at our medical spa in West Palm Beach. Deciding which to choose depends on the results you want to achieve.

What is Botox?

Botox is a muscle relaxer that contains purified bacteria. Originally used to treat neurological disorders, it was later used to correct wrinkles and has been a popular choice for over two decades. When people express emotions, their facial features change. Lines occur as a result. These are known as dynamic wrinkles. Botox is an effective treatment of dynamic wrinkles, which generally occur between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and the mouth. Botox, a muscle relaxant, blocks nerve signals in the muscles, essentially relaxing the muscles that create wrinkles. This procedure can only treat fine lines and wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement. In other words, it cannot correct fine lines and wrinkles caused by collagen breakdown.

Botox is not a permanent solution, but it is long-lasting, as it can last up to 3 months. Nevertheless, repeated treatments are necessary for continual effects.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Like Botox, Dermal fillers are an injectable designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, primarily those around the mouth (smile lines). Because the substances in Dermal fillers are commonly used to add volume and fullness, they can also be used to plump up areas on the face, such as lips and cheeks. It can also be used to reduce scarring.

Like Botox, Dermal fillers are not permanent, but they do provide long-lasting results. Depending on the cosmetic issue you are treating, it can last up to 6 months or 2 years. Unlike Botox, they can treat wrinkles caused by a decrease in collagen and elasticity in the skin.

When you speak to the medical professional at Beaute Therapies, depending on the cosmetic issue, together you will choose whether you need Botox, Dermal fillers, or a combination of both.

How Effective are These Treatments?

Both treatments are extremely effective at treating cosmetic issues. With Botox, it is likely that you will see results within a week after the procedure and they can last a few months. Once the treatment wears off, you will need to return to Beaute Therapies for another session.

Dermal fillers can last longer than Botox, but results differ depending on which filler you use. For example, we offer three different soft tissue fillers that achieve different goals:

  • Radiesse: Volumizing filler that provides instant lift by stimulating your body’s own collagen production. Can last up to a year or more.
  • Belotero Balance: Gel filler, also known as hyaluronic acid, reduces moderate to severe wrinkles around the mouth. Can last up to 6 months.
  • Juvederm: Hyaluronic acid filler that adds volume to various areas of the face, such as cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.

Although each Dermal filler is long-lasting, much like Botox, you will need to return for another session after the effects wear off.

Side Effects

You may experience side effects with both treatments although they are considered safe. The side effects associated with Botox generally occur as the effects of the treatment wear off and are temporary.

Dermal fillers have more side effects than Botox, but many are considered rare. The most severe side effects are often the result of unregulated procedures. You can prevent this by going to a licensed medical professional, such as the team at Beaute Therapies, who use FDA-approved Dermal filler needles. Common side effects are temporary, generally lasting only a couple of weeks.

Visit us to learn more about this non-surgical anti-aging procedure that’s designed to enhance and restore your natural beauty.

Then, when you are ready for your peel, follow this regimen before and after treatment.

Do’s and Don’ts Before Your Peel

Do choose a chemical peel that is right for your skin type. While chemical peels are considered safe, there are important considerations to make. People with a darker skin tone are at a greater risk of experiencing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark spots), light patches of skin, and/or scarring. As a result, we will help you choose the best chemical peel or a combination of peels for your skin type.

Don’t Exfoliate. A chemical peel uses acid to exfoliate the skin, which removes the outer layer (epidermis), to reveal the second layer (dermis) that sits underneath. So essentially it is a deep exfoliant. Because of this, we recommend that you do not exfoliate your skin for at least one week prior to your appointment. Keep in mind that there are many ways you can unintentionally exfoliate by using skincare products with an exfoliating effect. So, always check your products.

Do stay properly hydrated at least one day before your treatment. It is also important that your skin be fully hydrated, so don’t use products that may dry out your skin.

Don’t use Retinol products for 7-10 days before your peel. Additionally, if you are using products with a high percentage of alpha-hydroxy (AHA) or beta hydroxy (BHA), stop using them five days before your treatment.

Do wear sunscreen every day. Make sure it is broad-spectrum sunscreen, which is SPF 30 or higher.

Do not go to the gym at least 24 hours prior to your treatment.

Do’s and Don’ts After Your Peel

Do expect to see changes to your skin, not all positive. A few days after your peel, you may experience moderate shedding. The extent of shedding depends on the depth of the chemical peel. You may also experience:

  • Unusual dryness
  • Tightness
  • Flaking
  • Peeling
  • Small whiteheads (this is not a breakout)
  • Redness

Don’t touch your face. Avoid pulling at your skin even if it’s peeling. This is a process that needs to be done naturally, so allow the skin to flake off on its own. By picking at your skin, you can cause hyperpigmentation. If you are given a post-procedure kit or you were recommended to buy one, use it for five days or until the flaking has stopped. Use a protective moisturizer to reduce signs of flaking.

Do avoid direct sunlight and keep using your broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Don’t exercise or do any activities that will increase your body temperature or cause you to sweat. This includes taking hot showers, drinking alcohol, and even using your hairdryer, as this can lead to hyperpigmentation.

Do make sure your skin is properly hydrated. Continue to drink a lot of water and use your protective moisturizer daily.

Don’t use products with retinol and glycolic acids for at least 10 days after your peel.

Do contact a professional from our team if you are experiencing increased:

  • Redness
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Crusting of the skin
  • Flaking of the skin

Contact Beaute Therapies

Facts You Should Know Before Getting Fillers

With the rapid increase in time spent on social media, it’s no wonder that today’s youth are more susceptible to putting plastic in their bodies. The choice for getting fillers is an individual’s choice. However, it’s imperative to understand where that choice stems from. Be fully informed on all aspects regarding any surgical or non-surgical procedure that can permanently alter the way you look and live your life before opting for it.

Fillers can make you feel in one of two ways. You can either be thrilled about getting fillers, feeling confident about yourself, or feel worse about yourself. Both of these outcomes are valid and occur often. Fillers aren’t like piercings or tattoos that you can get on and take off a whim. There are consequences to fillers, and you should know the facts and risks before deciding.

What are Fillers?

Fillers are gel-like synthetic or natural substances that are filled in the creases of the body so that they may appear plump. Some of the most common fillers are dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are soft tissue fillers. Essex, MA is one of the many towns in America where these soft-tissue fillers are all the rage,

Fillers are less scary than complete cosmetic surgery, as dermal fillers involve only the injection of fillers in the dermal layer of the skin. They’re also not permanent as these fillers eventually break down.

What Should You Know?

You must know specific facts before you get dermal fillers. We have listed some of these facts below:

1. Why Do People Get Dermal Fillers

People get dermal fillers for all kinds of reasons. The most significant one is that they don’t want to look like age has affected their beauty. They want to feel differently about themselves, which is why they get fillers.

2. Precautions to Take

Safety should be your main priority. You should ensure that the physician doing the treatment is trained and experienced. Dermal fillers are generally available at medical spas. However, it would be best if you only looked at licensed and trained professionals, so you’re satisfied with your experience.

If your filler is injected incorrectly, you may be at risk for infection, lumps, and discoloration.

3. Questions to Ask Your Doctor

Always go in for a consultation before you get the actual procedure done. If your doctor is an excellent one, they’ll talk through your options with you. Everyone has different skin, so what works for one person may not work for another. You may go in expecting to be treated for dermal filler but then go down a different treatment path due to your doctor’s consultation.

4. Possible Side Effects of Fillers

You must understand that fillers, as attuned as they might be, to your body are a foreign material and may result in side effects. The most common side effects include bruising, redness, pain, or swelling. All of which can disappear within two weeks.

More drastic effects can occur when fillers are accidentally injected into blood vessels. This action can lead to impaired or blurred vision and permanent blindness. If your skin turns blue or you’re in a lot of pain, you may call the ER or an ambulance as the filler may have gotten into your bloodstream.

5. Avoid Soft-Tissue Fillers in Certain Cases

People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid dermal fillers. There’s no research regarding fillers for people who are pregnant and breastfeeding. If you’re in the process of getting any dental procedures, you should avoid fillers as these procedures require you to stretch and move your mouths which can misplace the fillers.

6. Be Wary of the Cost

You must understand that if something seems like it’s too good to be true, it often is.  If a medical spa is offering you fillers for cheap, it might cost you more. In 2019, the cost for one hyaluronic acid filler was $652 per syringe. Most people need more than one syringe for serious plumping.

Final Thoughts

Filler is less dire than reconstructive or cosmetic surgery. However, you’re still injecting foreign materials into your body, which is why you must be careful concerning them. We recommend that you spend several hours thinking about why you wish to get fillers, get a consultation with a medical professional who you trust, and get testimonies from people who had fillers injected. If you’re looking for licensed soft tissue fillers in Essex, MA medical clinics, or spas, check out Beauté Therapies Medical Spa.
