If you are unable to visit our spa for one of our treatments, make sure to promote healthy skin at home with a proper skincare routine. With so many products on the market, you may be wondering if you really need all of them. Truth is, some you need, and some are mostly gimmicks. To keep your routine simple, so you stay consistent, we will share the items you should absolutely include.

What’s in a Good Skincare Routine?

A good skincare routine consists of three products:

  • Cleanser
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen

The type of product you buy largely depends on your skin type and skin complexion. For example, if you have dry skin, you may want to incorporate a cream cleanser for added moisture. If your skin is extremely fair and prone to burning, use a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher instead of SPF 12 or 20. What about toners, serums, and oils? In most cases, you don’t actually need those products. If you feel they are beneficial, continue to use them. For those who feel that it’s a waste of time and money, you can scale down to these essential three items.

Morning Routine

What should your daily routine look like? In the morning, focus on protecting your skin from the pollutants it will be exposed to.

Start off with a gentle cleanser, even if your skin feels clean.  The gentler, the better. You don’t want it to leave your skin dry. Continue with a moisturizer or facial oil that is rich in antioxidants to provide hydration and protection against environmental exposure.

Complete your routine with sunscreen. Some beauty experts say that sunscreen is the most important product in your skincare routine. We happen to agree with that statement. Be liberal when applying it to your skin. You can skip this step (on your face) if your moisturizer or foundation contains sunscreen.

Nighttime Routine

When you return home from work, your skincare routine should focus on repairing your skin of any damage that was done. If you wear makeup, a fourth essential product to use is a makeup remover. Because most moisturizers do not remove all of your makeup, this should be your first step. We recommend micellar water, but you can also use oil, balms, even petroleum jelly.

Follow this step with a cleanser to wash away dirt, oil, and excess makeup. In the morning, you used a general gentle cleanser. In the evening, use a cleanser that treats your specific skin type.

To ensure smooth, well-protected skin, finish off with a moisturizer or night cream. Whichever you choose, we recommend looking for a product with vitamin A, which helps build new collagen – a must for women in their 30s and 40s. If you decide to go with a night cream instead of a moisturizer, but you find the night cream dries out your skin, you can include a moisturizer as your fourth and final step.

Pamper Yourself

It may be tempting to buy the latest skincare fad, but again, most of us don’t need those products. By simplifying your skincare routine, eliminating products you don’t need, you can spend more on products that matter. You can also spend more on pampering your skin and providing an extra boost of nourishment with chemical peels and spa facials in West Palm Beach, FL.

At Beaute Therapy, we use all-natural botanical products directly from Italy. The products work in combination to improve tone, texture, and the overall condition of your skin. Your skin depends on these treatments to unclog pores, thoroughly remove dirt and dead skin cells, and rejuvenate the skin.

Now, aren’t you glad you gave up essences, toners, and face masks?
